HD Adapt Discontinued

After very long consideration, 3D has decided to discontinue HD Adapt in an effort to “keep detailing simple” by narrowing down our polishing compound offerings. Unlike many other detail product companies, it has been our mission to not complicate our customers with repetitive polishes and compounds. That is why we have worked tirelessly to make our compounds and polishes not only produce quick, heavy cutting power, but also produce a resulting finish that is second to none.  When HD Cut+ was reintroduced a short time ago, it inherited many of the attributes that were pioneered with the HD Adapt technology (Adaptive Abrasive Technology AAT). After much testing, we have  been able to mimic both the cutting & finishing abilities that were accomplished with Adapt with the new HD Cut+ as well as the 3D AAT Finishing Polish in most paint correction & polishing comparison scenarios. As with all polishing compounds, pad selection as well as technique is the key to achieve optimal results, but final outcome should remain the same, if not better. Thank you for your continued support and...

Just when you thought HD Polish was the greatest finishing polish of all time……Tunch Goren decided to up the ante and lock in the top spot even deeper! Many have asked how an incredible product like HD Polish can be made better???? The answer: Adaptive Abrasive Technology Yes, that’s right. We’ve decided to bring in the latest and greatest abrasive technology to the 3D side of the business to create 3D AAT Finishing Polish #502 (AAT #502). This polish is fortified with not only the AAT technology, but also improved AND additional abrasives. Adaptive Abrasive Technology (AAT) Explained Further

Back when HD Adapt was introduced and now with 3D’s new AAT polishing compounds, so many people have been asking what makes these products different from not only other 3D & HD products, but pretty much all other products on the market. To properly explain this answer, I need to 1st touch on what Adaptive Abrasive Technology (AAT) is. AAT isn’t like anything else on the market today. It can’t be copied, replicated or reverse-engineered. Tunch Goren has gone to great lengths to not only create this new technology, but also to distinguish that it be in a category all by itself. In fact, its name has actually been trademarked. What’s most interesting about HD and now 3D polishing compounds that contain this special technology is that it extends what is possible in both cutting and finishing characteristics because of not just the unique abrasives used, but also a special chemical booster that allows the abrasive package to cut harder and quicker while also finishing better. It’s almost as if this creates a multidimensional symmetry of sorts by pushing the boundaries of what a compound and polish are capable of achieving. Many manufacturers source their abrasives from similar sources. However, these abrasives can only do so much by themselves .Giving it a boost takes it to the next level. I’ve personally used so many different compounds over the decades, but I’ve never witnessed a system as powerful and easy to use as this one. All the 3D & HD products that contain AAT can be used with any type of machine and buffing pad you’d like. However, the new 3D AAT Paint Correction System was created and is targeted towards the largest market in detailing which is body shops. And these shops typically are using rotary buffers. Not only is this platform (fresh refinishes) the largest, but it’s also the most difficult to create a product that works flawlessly on. This is mostly in part due to the many variables that can occur such as differences in paint systems (BASF, PPG, Sikkens, etc), forced or air cured (i.e.baked), and environmental/geographical factors throughout the world. AAT has been designed to work exceptionally well on the variables these fresh finishes present ultimately saving the end user time while producing a superior finish . The abrasives used have been specially selected so that it doesn’t tear away at these soft, almost jelly bean like finishes. Mechanical cutting can only do so much. Our chemical assistance takes the capabilities of the abrasives further This special chemical additive works in unison with the abrasives to assist with cutting and finishing duties. This chemical-mechanical system has been created to produce exceptional cut while leaving the...

Detailing Made Simple: Saving Time in the Prep Bay

Many professional detailers and novices as well are plagued by the amount of time spent just to prep a vehicle before performing a full detailing. Many spend 2, 3 and even 4 hours just to prepare a car for the detailing process!! I can’t help but to scratch my head when I read how in-depth a person feels they need to go just to prep a car for a detailing operation. Even though properly prepping a car is unarguably the most important step in the detail process, some are under the false notion that the vehicle has to be surgically clean prior to polishing the paint and/or cleaning the interior. And as a result they spend unnecessary amounts of time performing the wash prep process. Things that include and are not limited to would be using multiple wash buckets to sterilize their wash media after wiping down each panel. Dousing the car down with a thick & expensive layer of car wash soap foam thinking it is deeply cleaning the car’s surface. Using a barrage of tiny little brushes on every crack & crevice of a vehicle so they can justify that every nook and cranny is extra clean. Using expensive, slow working chemicals to clean & decontaminate a vehicle’s surfaces. Little do they realize that pretty much most of these extra steps actually cost them valuable time & money unnecessarily.  So, as a result, I’ve decided to come up with a simplistic approach to prepping your car for the detail process. This car be used in all detailing environments. From mobile to fixed location. High end to mass production. 1st we need to understand that there are certain factors that may or may not need to be considered when doing a prep detail. This would 1st and foremost directly depend on the agreements you’ve made with your client and to what extent you feel comfortable going in your details normally. Variable processes that can directly affect your overall times are as follows: **Extent to which you clean your wheels. (faces vs. barrels vs. behind spokes) Hands down, the extent to which you decide to clean a wheel can play a huge factor in the amount of time spent on a detail. Depending on the wheel AND the client’s expectations, dialing in on what is required can dramatically affect your total touch time. Some wheels, based on their design, don’t show off/expose their inner wheel barrel. As a result, this area of the wheel might not require extra cleaning steps for the specific job. Having this discussion with your customer before the onset of the detail to determine their expectations is critical. If a client is only anticipating a clean wheel face, it might not be...

Detailing Made Simple Heads to Qatar for Training Extravaganza

Javier Boxler & Hector Garcia of the 3D World Headquarters in Santa Clarita, CA traveled to Qatar to train 60 Detailers with the latest in 3D/HD Car Care products. They were there for approximately 10 days traveling to several of our distributors in the region showing them some of the inter-workings of car care 3D/HD style. All in all, everyone appeared to be very pleased to learn many of the advanced ways to carry out a professional detail.  You’d be pleasantly surprised to find how much people love car care in Qatar. And Detailers really appreciate alternative ways that save them time and money when performing a detail. With the methods taught during the Detailing Made Simple  training, students are both given demonstrations how to 1st do the task and then they are put into action by using the simple mechanism of trial and error with the careful backup of their trainers. It was a wonderful experience that will be cherished forever.  Here are some pictures taken during this awesome event.                ...
