Effects of Acid Rain and Pollutants after a Rainy Day

Why should you wash your car after it rains?

Road salt, contaminants and pollutants from the air collect as it rains. These contaminants and acid rain can cause damage to a vehicles paint surface. The acid rain will etch into the paint and cause defects on the paint sealant and possibly cause further damage if it’s ignored. A short time of rain fall will still cause as much damage as a rain storm. The longer you allow the pollutants on your vehicles finish, the more damage it will cause. It’s recommended that you wash your vehicle at least a day or two after it rains or snows. The road salt will eat away at your exterior paint and can cause rust. Always wash your car after driving through road salt conditions.
